The early singles and featured album tracks are represented here in some classic live performances (miming) or with some collages of sequences from the appropriate era. The real difference comes with the 1965 and later releases when deliberate promos were made.
By the end of 1965 The Beatles were increasingly reluctant to perform the constant round of television appearances to promote their new releases. So they decided to self-produce and video-tape their own promotional clips which could be distributed world-wide to any waiting T.V. company.
The Beatles were the fore-runners of the MTV revolution and instigated the promo-video age.
In late November 1965 they booked one sound stage at Twickenham and in the space of just a few hours were as productive as they had been in the recording studio by recording TEN promotional clips made up of both sides of their next single and their previous three A-sides which were still being heavily featured worldwide. The finished productions on this day were:
Day Tripper ... Three versions.
We Can Work It Out ... Three versions
Help ! ... just the one.
Ticket To Ride ... One version
I Feel Fine ... Two versions.
This set a pattern and from now on almost every release would have a promotional video made. For example on 19th/20th May 1966 they had another dedicated promotional shoot where they recorded five promos for Paperback Writer (two colour, three b/w) and four for the B-side, Rain (two in colour, two b/w).
In case you were wondering why bother with more than one clip of any song .... this was to ensure that each of the main music shows in England could boast their own exclusive performance and would therefore be more amenable to playing them.

Almost all of these takes and all following promotional sequences appear on this collection and below I have indicated the recording dates.
For full detail you should refer to Mark Lewisohn's utterly essential tome, "The Complete Beatles Chronicle".

Take it that each clip is in colour, unless they are followed with b/w, indicating black-and-white.
