Detail :	19 years ago EMI put out the first BBC compilation and here we have an official follow-up (at last). On Air features 37 previously unreleased performances (officially) and 23 newly available speech tracks. The recordings have been remastered. Between March 1962 and June 1965 no less than 275 unique musical performances by The Beatles were broadcast by the B.B.C. in the UK. The group played 88 different songs on national radio - some were recorded many times, others were played just once. Ten of the songs on this album were never recorded by the band for E.M.I. in the sixties. Two of these are released for the first time ever (officially) - Beautiful Dreamer and I'm Talking About You. On Air also features BBC recordings of 30 well-loved songs from The Beatles catalogue including five number ones. The Beatles lively radio banter is heard throughout this album and there are also four candid interviews included. For plenty of interesting information of the BBC sessions that I have already written about see the first official Live at the BBC release. Also, there is a lot of interesting programme detail on the TEN c.d. bootleg boxset: Beatles At The Beeb ! This issue includes a very nice glossy 48-page booklet with an introduction by Paul McCartney, an article about the BBC sesions by Kevin Howlett, full recording information and some interesting information included agaist each track, and some very nice old pictures. 17th November 2013 - On Air entered the Official Album Chart at number 12. 24th November 2013 - Second week in the chart and On Air dropped fourteen places to number 26. 1st December 2013 - Third week in the chart and On Air dropped twenty places to number 46. 8th December 2013 - Fourth week in the chart and On Air dropped again another fourteen places to number 60. 15th December 2013 - Fifth week in the chart and On Air bounced back up one place to number 59. 22nd December 2013 - Sixth week in the chart and On Air dropped back a place again to number 60. 29th December 2013 - Seventh and final week in the chart and just hanging on to chart status as it dropped to number 75. This second volume was also released with the first volume as a remastered four c.d. collection (catno 3758447) called "The Collection". This also entered the official album chart on 17th November 2013, but as it was at number 86 this is outside the official Top 75.
