The first single release for Splinter on Dark Horse, and their only chart hit which peaked at No. 17.
Both tracks were taken from their debut Dark Horse L.P. "The Place I Love" which was released 20th September 1974.

Splinter was the first artist signed to George's Dark Horse label, when it was still partnered with A&M.
Splinter was essentially a two-man vocal group consisting of Bobby Purvis and Bill Elliott (who we've already seen with a Beatle connection ... see God Save Us).
When the single came out it certainly made people more aware of the group. The George Harrison connection was already known, and with a truly Beatlesque sound emanating from the radio, many thought they were hearing The Beatles under another guise. Indeed "Costafine Town" has been described as being among the best Beatles songs that the Beatles never made.
