Recording Details.
"Look At Me" was left over from the "White Album" sessions", and "My Mummy's Dead" was recorded by John alone with a cassette recorder.
Initial demo's of the other songs for this album are created during John and Yoko's "Primal Therapy" course with Dr. Arthur Janov,
firstly in London in April 1970, and then in California in June-August.
"God" demos were first performed on 26th July 1970.
Studio recordings of the tracks for this album commence on 26th September at Abbey Road at which several other tracks are jammed including,
"When A Boy Meets A Girl", "Don't Be Cruel", "Glad All Over", "Honey Don't", "Hound Dog", "Matchbox", and "That's Alright (Mama)".
Sessions are completed on 23rd October, with the final mixes ready by the 27th.

Front cover photograph is by Dan Richter.
Sleeve Design by John and Yoko.
The inner sleeve (side one pictured above) includes the lyrics, except for two words in "Working Class Hero" which are replaced by astericks.
Underneath it says, "Omitted at the insistence of E.M.I."
Also on the inner sleeve John has written, "for Yoko with love from John 9/10/70" which John must have written on the occasion of his 30th birthday.

In 2008 an excellent DVD was issued as part of the Classic Albums T.V. series.

First pressings (1970).

The album was deleted January 1976.

The album was re-issued on the Fame label in June 1984 catalogue number 41 3102 1, plus cassette 41 3102 4.

C.D.

5th April 1988, the first C.D. issue occurs with international catalogue number of CDP 7 46770 2 this has the usual tracklisting.

November 1994, second C.D. issue, this time on the Fame label ... catalogue number CDFA 3310 (normal tracks again).

9th October 2000, a new CD was put out to commemorate what would have been John's 60th Birthday.
This version is digitally remixed and remastered, and adds two bonus tracks giving it a runtime of 46:27.

4th October 2010, to commemorate the 70th anniversary of John's birth a campaign was launched with all John's original albums remastered.
They were each available singularly or as part of the eleven c.d. boxset: The Signature Box
This album was issued with no extra tracks on EMI with a catalogue number of 906 5052
It failed to chart.

23rd April 2021, to [almost] commemorate the 50th anniversary of the original album release a special John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band (The Ultimate Collection)
A SIX c.d. and TWO BluRay edition with dozens of outtakes and special mixes. Essential.
